The Book Started when…

I was continuing my medical appointments and therapy at the Naval Hospital back at Camp Pendleton, Ca. My therapist had me write down the experience of that horrible day in the hopes to process those emotions.

After she heard my story, she wiped her tears and told me, “You are done with therapy and needed to go home and write a book”. Today, it is my hope to continue to spread awareness for what these men, women, and dogs went through in combat, and how we survived even the darkest of days.

The bonds that heal. Surviving with Grief, is more than a story about the
unconditional love between a military handler and his K-9, it is a pragmatic naration of the relationships throughout our military between battle buddies - on their left and their right, and the importance of the connections to family. Real and honest, a journey of the human spirit and love that surges from these bonds, despite the hardships and tragedy of war.
